THERESHOLD

This sculpture is a meditation on balance, fragility, and transformation. 
The wooden element, weathered and hollowed by time, is deliberately suggestive of the changes during this season of life, a space marked by absence and presence, loss and renewal. Its contours evoke both vulnerability and strength, embodying the intimate transformations often hidden yet profoundly lived. Supporting the house, it becomes the body as dwelling place: altered, resilient, and still capable of holding light.

The windows cut into the house invite illumination — reminders that within transition, new clarity emerges. The stone base grounds the work in earth raw endurance, its roughness reflecting the uneven terrain women must navigate as they pause, re-balance, and redefine themselves.

This piece seeks to honour menopause not as decline, but as a re-shaping of body and spirit. It holds the tension between carrying weight and letting go, between fragility and fortitude. In this suspended moment, the work speaks of The Pause as threshold, an invitation to see change as possibility, to recognise the house of the self as weathered yet radiant, standing in new light.
