Chattering, squawking, and swishes. That’s how I remember the place I used to play in the mountains. Our converted dairy farm in McDonald Valley with galas, kookaburras, and cicadas made life always full of noise. My Sydney city epoch was the same but different, with white -smoked days at the Enmore loft studio with the honey eaters, myna birds and plane-bus noise. Now I’ve returned to country, next to the Wataganmountains, to see the animals and plants I love first hand. With them, I fill the wood’s tangled fence with wax-full Luminance pencil marks to brighten and novelise the everyday nature that speaks to me, with Australian flora and fauna tapestries.
Creating conversation and connection with Art.
‘Pseudonym’ was born of a desire to redirect the conversation back to art, back to contemplation and connection. As a society we’ve gotten so caught up in the hype, the marketing, branding, followers, statistics, likes and the blue ticks; it can feel like the real story of the work is often becoming lost among the noise. At pseudonym. gallery + creative space, the art is the real story, and connection our end goal.
