Painted en plein air in Sofala using acrylic and gouache on Arches paper, 'Sofala Blue' reflects my response to the spirited presence of this Australian land. There’s a quiet resilience embedded in its contours—a grace that holds time, memory, and weathered strength. As I painted, I felt the pulse of a place that speaks to the indomitable human spirit—where enduring beauty rises from the raw, honest terrain. This work is as much about the landscape as it is about what it teaches us: to stand, to soften, and to carry on.
