She opened up to me, like a memory
She opened up to me, like a memory
Stories of the Muse, Succubus and Witches go back to very early times and every culture has their own version. Often peppered with universal mysticism from the Polynesian tribal markings, through to the six fingered Mayan priestess that inspired this piece. The Muse is historically found documented in Greek mythology, always as a connection and source of inspiration to the creative arts. The Succubus is recorded as a female demon, existing for eons in supernatural mythology, seducing and absorbing the energy or dignity of her victim. The Witch as the misunderstood healer embodies the divine feminine.
The female form has long evoked desire, inspiration and encouraged creative flow. That energy has led to fear and vilification since the beginning of time, from Eve to Lilith through to Medusa, Kali and the Sirens, what is misunderstood is perpetually demonised. A strong female is bastardised, bathed in fear; butchered in historical barbarism and propaganda.
The fear-less woman is a feared woman.
