I Am Not There

Grief is not linear, it does not end, it feels more circular and becomes a part of who we are, adding to the rich variety of emotions that enrich our soul as we journey through life.

“Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep” is an anonymous poem with unknown origins that I spoke at my mothers funeral and I lean on regularly at times of shadow + darkness, for its healing properties.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints in snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting  rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave, and cry
I am not there, I did not die.
