Flight

The medium reflects my preference to use existing rather than new material where possible and to draw attention to the beauty of old, used and worn objects that exist in the shadows of our brighter lives.

Made from foraged and salvaged materials and resembling something in flight or taking off, this work speaks to the ephemerality of shadows and darkness.

It suggests a passing glimpse of both the thing in flight and its shadow that it may or may not be escaping from. But, like all darkness, shadows pass and spirits rise as if with wings recalling Emily Dickenson 'hope is the thing with feathers'.
