Brandt Clifford

'A Lens on the Land and Sea'

From the bush to the beach, Clifford’s photography is a poetic journey through the heart of Australia. Born in the western Queensland town of Toowoomba, Clifford’s roots run deep into the red soil of a land shaped by generations of Queenslanders. His connection to the Australian landscape is not just familial; it’s visceral, captured in every frame he shoots.

Brandt’s love affair with the camera began amidst the freshwater streams of Charleville and Thargomindah, where the stillness of nature spoke to him in ripples and reflections. It was here that he learned to freeze moments in time, to find the eternal in the ephemeral.

In 2013, a new chapter unfolded as Clifford moved to New South Wales and embraced the role of a Surf Lifesaver. The poetry of the waves, the rhythm of the beach, and the ballet of marine life became his new muse. His lens found a new focus in the contrast between the relentless sea and the steadfast shore.

Clifford’s work is a celebration of connection—between land and sea, moment and memory, heart and home. His photographs are not just images; they are invitations to witness the fear-less beauty of life, to dive into the depths of nature, and to emerge with a renewed sense of wonder.

As Clifford prepares to exhibit at the Pseudonym Art Gallery’s ‘fear-less’ exhibition, he brings with him a portfolio that is as much a map of his soul as it is a gallery of landscapes. Each photograph is a verse in an ongoing ode to the land he loves. A narrative of light, shadow, and water that beckons the viewer to look closer, feel deeper, and fear less
