The Aging Pokemon

This image evolved from the central Pokémon-hat frowning figure. The photo was sent to a friend in a rush of blood to the head after posing for an absurd picture, while shopping.  Struck by how old I looked, I returned to the ageing image of an Asian man, which was my inspiration for my HSC major work.  That sculpturer was also themed around the torment of aging.

A poignant but playful look at my inevitable old age. I’d rather be old than the alternative!

The image was painted with handmade Nihonga pigments, on a digitally and collage manipulated image on watercolour paper.
